New Government Regulations For Mortgages

Effective July 30 2009 a new set of mortgage regulations have been put in place in order to protect consumers by enduring they have the information they need on their mortgage terms.

The new regulations include:
Upfront fees cannot be collected prior to providing the initial mortgage disclosures.

The earliest a borrower can close is seven business days after the initial disclosures have been issued.

Borrowers will receive a copy of their appraisal at least three business days before closing.

APR changes outside of set allowances will result in a new disclosure being generated with a minimum delay of four days so the borrower can review the terms before closing.
